What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis could be described as the dreamlike state between wake and sleep. It is totally natural and non-magical and a good definition would be "a state of relaxation at one with a state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion".
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Nearly anyone can be hypnotised as long as they want to be and as long as they understand the spoken word. The exceptions are very young children and persons under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
How would I be hypnotised?
Roseanna will use her voice to induce you into a state of hypnosis. Its almost like listening to a pleasant story that allows you to drift off into relaxation. It is similar to meditation. Don't expect flowing robes or swinging watches!
Will I be aware of what is happening?
Yes. It's actually a state of heightened awareness.
Is there any cause at all for concern?
No. Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid.
Can I be made to do anything against my will?
There is no question of being controlled or manipulated while in hypnosis. You could not be made to do or to say anything that you do not wish to.
Will I definitely come out of hypnosis?
Yes. In fact, the only reason why someone would like to stay in hypnosis is because its such a pleasant, relaxing state.
Can I drive after hypnosis?
Yes you can drive, just as you can drive after a meditation class, or after a yoga class, or after taking a cat-nap.
How soon will therapy begin to work?
As soon as the subconscious mind has been activated along a particular course, it will immediately begin to act on the suggestion given.
What about confidentiality?
All therapy is conducted on a one-to-one basis and is totally confidential.
What is Neuro Linguistic Programming?
NLP could be described as a method of using language to program your neurology. The knowledge of the intricate ways in which we use language to order our thoughts and behaviour and to communicate (linguistic) is used to programme new ways of choosing to organise ideas and create actions within the neurology of the person (into the senses, feelings, thoughts and physiological reactions to ideas and events).
